Vanderbilt Anchor Down In Midtown NYC
Stated from the Vanderbilt Volleyball Website: Vanderbilt volleyball is headed to New York City this fall for Anchor Down in Midtown presented by SRM Concrete, a marquee event that will bring the Commodores to Manhattan to host North Carolina on Sept.13 in a Vanderbilt home match at Hammerstein Ballroom at Manhattan Center.
Anchor Down in Midtown also coincides with the opening of Vanderbilt's New York City campus, creating opportunities for the volleyball program to engage with students, alumni and supporters while extending the university's presence in one of the world's most influential cities.
The match will provide a unique opportunity for Vanderbilt Athletics to connect with the university's New York City community while showcasing the volleyball program on a national stage. Throughout the weekend, the Commodores will participate in events designed to engage students, alumni, supporters and university partners across the city.
For this event, I was able to create various branding and marketing materials, including sponsorship flyers, social media graphics, billboard graphics, and logo branding. The purpose behind these graphics was to evoke the New York environment, incorporate visual depictions of the balconies in the Hammerstein Ballroom, and capture the competitive spirit of the Vanderbilt volleyball team.

Vanderbilt Anchor Down In Midtown NYC Logo
The multiple logo variations incorporated the event title, “Anchor Down in Midtown,” along with the date (9/13/26) and the matchup between Vanderbilt and North Carolina. The designs also incorporated volleyball elements, stars, triangles, and an illustrative skyline to highlight that the match is taking place in New York. Overall, the logos have the bold, energetic feel of a bowl game logo while still capturing the identity of the event and its New York setting.

Vanderbilt Anchor Down In Midtown NYC - Social Media & Billboard Graphics
These graphics were also created to promote the 9/13 volleyball match in New York City and were used to attract supporting Vandy Volleyball families and friends. The purpose behind the graphic was to convey New York street imagery, such as billboard ads, taxis, smoke, and other urban elements, while capturing the competitive spirit of the Vanderbilt volleyball team. The “Vanderbilt Anchor Down in Midtown NYC – One Sheeter Flyer” served as the backbone for the design, but was revamped with a new look by incorporating imagery depicting the balconies of the Hammerstein Ballroom and cool, vibrant colors to highlight the atmosphere of the event venue.
